For countless men around the world who are forced to take endless photos of their partners, the struggle is real.
“Behind every cute girl on Instagram is a guy like me, and a brick wall,” says Jeff Houghton in a now-viral video, as his real-life wife strikes poses for him.
“My job in pictures is to make her look good.”
“I’m basically like a human selfie stick,” says Trey George of his lifestyle blogger wife, another pair featured in the video.
If you’ve ever had to endure one of these photoshoots, or subjected your significant other to one, you may appreciate this tongue-in-cheek satire.
The parody was created by The Mystery Hour, an Emmy-award winning comedy show Houghton hosts in Springfield, Missouri.
It’s been viewed more than 2.5 million times since it was posted on Tuesday. It seems a lot of people can relate to the plight.

In a similar vein, late last month a Seattle man created an awkwardly funny video of all the times his wife made him take a photo of her.
He called it “The Forever Pose.”
Signs you may be an Instagram Husband:
- Are you the designated photographer for your Instagram Wife?
- Do you take more pictures with your Instagram Wife than you would take on your own?
- Have you ever been yelled at for presuming you should only take one, maybe two, pictures of a particular pose?
- Have you ever thought to yourself when looking at an Instagram photo you took, “Only I know the rage and venom that was directed at me immediately before and after this seemingly happy photo was taken?”
Other tell-tale signs shown in the video: not being able to take a sip of your drink until your partner takes a satisfactory photo. And shoe shots.
You can see the full test to see if you’re an Instagram friend, boyfriend, fiancé or husband.
But the team behind the video writes that, “The term Instagram Husband does not necessarily refer to marital status, gender or age. Anyone can be stricken as an Instagram Husband, including boyfriends, girlfriends, parents, or sons and daughters.”
