City of Toronto introduces mobile app to fight potholes

TORONTO – With spring being pothole season, Mayor Rob Ford introduced a mobile app Friday to help locate those pesky road obstructions.

The annoucement comes a week after the city launched a similar app to fight graffiti.

Toronto residents, businesses and visitors can now report potholes and graffiti to 311 by using the same app, SeeClickFix and TDOT 311.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Residents are encouraged to download the app, and take a photo of the offending vandalism or potholes. The app finds your geographical position in Toronto and supplies that information to city services, which can then begin the process of removing vandalism.

Neil Harris, Director of 311 services in Toronto, said complaints filed through the app are “more efficient than calls coming in. They automatically go to service fulfillment division.”

The SeeClickFix app works for Android, Blackberry and iPhones.
