KELOWNA — One item at a time, a mountain of toys piled up, breaking a record at the Salvation Army’s fifteenth annual Tiny Tim Toy Breakfast in Kelowna on Thursday morning.
Hundreds of people supporting the cause started their day by bringing donations of unwrapped toys or money. In exchange, supporters had breakfast at the Coast Capri Hotel while enjoying live music.

The donations are for the Sally Ann’s annual Christmas Hamper program.
“All of these toys will be transported over to the Kelowna Community Church where we are going to be stocking the toy room shelves,” says the Salvation Army’s executive director, Darryl Burry.
Organizers were blown away by the turnout where were greeted by a long line up as they arrived for the event which was slated to start at 6:30 a.m.
“We had such a great line up here at the hotel that at 6:20 a.m., the hotel actually opened the buffet line to start processing people through,” says Burry.
About 1,700 toys were collected and close to $3,200 was raised at the breakfast.
