Man arrested after swinging metal pole at Saskatoon police

SASKATOON – A man is facing charges after a disturbance Wednesday morning in Saskatoon. Officers were called to the 300-block of Avenue C South just after 8 a.m. CT after staff told police a man was threatening to assault them with a metal pole.

When officers arrived at the scene, the man allegedly began swinging the pole at them.

Officers fired a Taser in an effort to subdue the man but it was unsuccessful. He was eventually restrained by officers and taken into custody.

The 38-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment that police say is unrelated to the Taser deployment or restraint.

Police officials said the incident will be reviewed in accordance with policy.
