TORONTO — The province’s police watchdog is investigating after a 34-year-old man was found dead in west-end Toronto apartment Tuesday morning.
Toronto police responded to a call at about 9:50 a.m. at an apartment located at 2 Eva Rd., in the Highway 427 and Burnamthorpe Road area, the Special Investigations Unit said in a release.
Officers allegedly arrived on the 23rd floor of an apartment and found a 31-year-old woman who appeared injured, before entering the unit.
The SIU said police then found a man without vital signs on the terrace of the building and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman was then taken to hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries.
The SIU has assigned five investigators and two forensic investigators to investigate the circumstances of the incident.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the SIU or Crime Stoppers.
The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
