Province teams up with city of Lethbridge to promote volunteerism

LETHBRIDGE – Volunteer Alberta paid a visit to the city Friday, teaming up with Volunteer Lethbridge to help organizations recruit volunteers.

Participants gathered at the Dr. Foster James Penny Building to discuss how individuals and organizations can best seek out volunteers, while creating a welcoming environment to those looking to donate their time.

“Today we’re talking about embracing possibilities and creating opportunities that we don’t know exist yet,” said Katherine Topolniski, creative director with Volunteer Alberta. “What that means is, we need to take some time to sit down with people, to talk to them about their skills and get to know who they are and how they can contribute to our organizations.

The workshop was attended by officials from the non-profit sector, the business community and the City of Lethbridge.
