LETHBRIDGE – The new trades and technologies facility at Lethbridge College is getting another classroom.
Lethbridge company Westco Construction Ltd. has donated $50,000 to establish the classroom.
“We believe the college is offering relevant training and opportunities for young people to be exposed to the trades,” said Westco co-founder Theo Van Ee.
The donation extends into the community, with many Lethbridge College alumni securing jobs with companies like Westco after graduation.
Derek O’Connor, co-founder of Westco, said, “we believe it is important to support the southern Alberta construction industry as well as the education of our young people.”
“This generous gift is another example of a thriving partnership between Lethbridge College and an industry leader,” added Lethbridge College President and CEO Dr. Paula Burns. “Westco Construction’s support will provide long-term benefits to students, to apprentices and our community.”
The classroom will be located in the part of the new facility that will open in September 2017.
