Three stranded hunters were located safely following a search in northern Saskatchewan by Mounties, conservation officers and the Armed Forces. The trio, from the Yorkton area, had headed to an area northwest of Hudson Bay to do some moose hunting.
With two quads and an Argo, they headed north of Prairie River. They attempted to cross a swamp in the Argo but were unsuccessful. They told their families via text message they were wet, unable to start a fire and needed help.
The families contacted Hudson Bay RCMP around 7:15 p.m. CT to let Mounties know what was happening.

Police, along with conservation officers, started a search for the men. The quads were quickly located but found in an impassible swamp area.
Officers said the area was difficult to navigate as there was 20 inches of fresh snow on the ground, many muskegs to cross and the swamp had a thin layer of ice.
Using text messages, the search party tried to determine the location of the stranded hunters. They did receive one message stating “Argo is low on power.”
RCMP mobilized its search and rescue team Friday at 5 a.m. They arrived at 9:30 a.m. and asked for help from the Armed Forces, who sent a C-130 Hercules from Winnipeg to join the search from the air.
The aircrew was able to locate the hunters and dropped a radio to allow them to establish and maintain contact with the ground search team.
Rescuers were finally able to locate the men with the help of local residents and specialized vehicles to help navigate the terrain.
Police say the three men suffered minor injuries relating to exposure and hypothermia.
