Driver hits pole, fire hydrant, tree and other vehicle in Vernon then flees

VERNON — A 53-year-old Vernon man is under investigation for reckless driving after a destructive series of events Wednesday afternoon.

Just before 4 p.m. RCMP received a complaint of erratic driving in the 1700-block of Kosmina Road in Vernon.

“The vehicle was reported to be speeding and doing doughnuts,” said Vernon RCMP Cst. Jocelyn Noseworthy in a media release. “It had struck a pole, a fire hydrant, a tree and another vehicle and had then fled the scene. There were numerous other people in the area at the time.”

No one was hurt in the crash and the driver was picked up by police shortly after.

The 53-year-old man was arrested and has been released from custody. He has yet to be charged.
