CALGARY – As part of a Movember fundraiser, some Calgarians got the opportunity to play the role of firefighter on Sunday.
With a donation to the men’s health cause, people could take part in the Calgary FireFit Challenge that ran all day.
Competitors had to run up flights of stairs, haul buckets of water, run with fire hoses and carry dummies.
“Most people are doing pretty good. It’s physically demanding, so if you are into cross fit, this is right up your alley,” said Todd Kusler, captain of the Calgary Fire Department.
Every year, Calgary firefighters enter in Movember’s Great Canadian Fire Challenge and are one of the top teams in the challenge. This year, it was open to the public to try it out.
“This is pretty close to a typical fire but it’s combat challenge, which our firefighters used to train for work, it’s not easy.”
