SASKATOON – May the force be with the Saskatoon Blades. The WHL team announced Tuesday it will be hosting a Star Wars night when they take on the Edmonton Oil Kings on Nov. 28.

As part of the event, the Blades will be wearing special Star Wars jerseys from Star Wars Episode 5: The Empire Strikes Back depicting the battle on the ice planet Hoth.

The team worked closely with LucasFilms to come up with the special night, which will raise awareness, funds and goods for the Food Banks of Saskatchewan.

“Our vision for a Star Wars night has been in the making for a long time,” said Blades president Steve Hogle.

“We’re thrilled PotashCorp, and the Food Banks are stepping forward to help us take this out of this world franchise with such a down to earth cause: hunger. We must also thank the people at LucasFilm, who have been unbelievable to deal with.”
