A 15-year-old girl has been left distraught and shaken after an attempted home invasion in Surrey last week.
RCMP say on Friday, Nov. 6, at about 2:15 p.m., officers were called to a residence in the 13300-block of Sutton Place. An unknown man had approached the teen outside her home and after speaking to her, had attempted to enter her home by force. The two struggled briefly at the door and the girl called for help.
Mounties say the man then fled the property in his car. The young victim was not injured, but was obviously emotionally distraught.
“We do not believe this to be a random act and as a result have taken steps to ensure the victim’s safety out of an abundance of caution,” says Cpl. Scotty Schumann in a statement. “Anyone with further information about this individual or incident is asked to contact our investigators.”
The suspect is described as South Asian male, 25 to 30 years old, approximately 5’8”, with a medium build and “unkempt” black hair. He was wearing a long-sleeved black jacket with blue jeans and sandals. The suspect’s vehicle is described as an older model, compact, black car, possibly a Honda Civic.
Anyone with further information is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or www.solvecrime.ca, quoting file # 2015-159742.
