Drive-by shooting believed to be targeted: police

CALGARY – Police believe a drive-by shooting in Calgary on Sunday evening was a targeted attack.

Officers launched an investigation after two men arrived at a Calgary Police Service office in northeast Calgary at around 7:15 p.m. complaining they had been shot at while driving.

Investigators believe two vehicles, a white minivan and a black truck, chased the victims from the community of Nolan Heights along a circular route throughout north Calgary. Police said shots were fired at the victims’ vehicle while in the community of Thorncliffe.

An unrelated Jeep Cherokee parked in the area was also struck by bullets. The vehicle was unoccupied at the time.

Police said on Monday the shooting was thought to be a targeted attack by a group of people known to the victims, as part of an ongoing dispute.

“It is not yet known if the shooting is connected to any of the other shootings that have recently occurred,” said a news release.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Calgary police or contact Crime Stoppers.
