WINNIPEG — An 18-year-old girl is recovering after being both physically and sexually assaulted during a home invasion in East Elmwood on Friday night.
The young woman was babysitting at a home in the 400 block of Keenleyside Street. She had finished putting two young children to sleep and when she came downstairs, there was a man in the home.
The suspect assaulted the woman, rendering her unconscious, then sexually assaulted her, according to police.
Her purse and a few items were stolen before the suspect fled.
Officers have made no arrests but said they are looking for a 25-30 years old man, approximately 5’7″ in height, average build. He was wearing a black toque and navy sweater.
The investigation is being handled by the members of the Sex Crimes Unit.
