Hold and secure lifted at Hanley School after armed robbery

Mounties are investigating an armed robbery in a community south of Saskatoon that had a school in a hold and secure mode. Police say a hotel in Hanley, Sask. was robbed Friday just after 11:15 a.m. CT.

As a precaution, Hanley School was placed in a hold and secure mode, with the exterior doors locked and monitored while classes continued. At 5:45 p.m. CT, RCMP advised that the hold and secure was lifted.

Investigators say a male suspect entered the hotel armed with a firearm and demanded cash. He then fled with the money on foot in an unknown direction.

The lone employee was not injured.

The suspect is described as wearing a dark-coloured hoodie with a dark scarf covering most of his face.
