WATCH: Italian sailors rescue Labrador puppy lost at sea

Members of an Italian yacht club rescued a Labrador puppy that was spotted struggling to stay afloat of the coast of Naples last month.

The rescue happened on Oct. 24, after six members of the Reale Yacht Club Canottieri Savoia were sailing off the coast of Naples and spotted the dog frantically paddling towards their sailboat.

Video of the rescue shows the group of sailors trying to maneuverer the boat towards the puppy as they coax the animal closer to the yacht.

A man is seen reaching overboard, grabbing the pooch by the scruff of the neck, pulling the animal to safety.

The dog had reportedly fallen from a ferry while travelling with its owner between the island of Ischia and Naples earlier that day.

Local media reported the ferry company refused to stop for the dog, saying the animal was most likely drowned.

The company later apologized for the incident.
