Pedestrian struck and killed by VIA Rail train in Burlington

BURLINGTON, Ont. – Halton Regional Police are investigating after they say a pedestrian was struck and killed by a VIA Rail train in Burlington.

The incident occurred last night around 9:30 near Burloak Dr. and North Service Rd.

Emergency services personnel responded to the scene and found a deceased person on the train tracks.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit determined the individual was struck by an eastbound VIA train.

All eastbound and westbound train traffic was halted for about two hours for the investigation.

No other details have been released, but police say foul play is not suspected.
