Things could have been much worse for a driver on the Okanagan Connector Monday morning when the delivery truck he was operating nearly flipped, coming to rest in a ditch on the side of the icy road.
It happened shortly after 12 p.m. near the Pennask Summit. Officials say the man did not suffer serious injuries.
There is no word on what caused the accident but it is believed the slick road conditions lead the truck driver to lose control and veer off the side of the highway.
Winter conditions on the Connector lead to a pair of rollover accidents over the weekend.
Shortly after 8 p.m. on Saturday, a vehicle hit ice and slid off the road to the right into the ditch, according to Cpl. Joe Duncan. West Kelowna RCMP responded to the scene on Highway 97 near Sunset Main.
“The 35-year-old Kamloops man and his 29-year-old Kamloops female passenger sustained no injuries. The vehicle was towed,” says Duncan.

He says the second incident happened at 10 p.m. around the same area with a vehicle hitting ice and sliding off the road to the left. Duncan says the 40-year-old Penticton woman was shaken up; her vehicle was also towed.
“Weather conditions can be unpredictable. Ensure you are well prepared for winter roads and always adjust your driving speed to road and weather conditions,” says Duncan.
Motorists are encouraged to check the Drive B.C. website before heading out onto the Connector.
