Police identify victim of downtown Toronto homicide

TORONTO – Police have identified the victim in a dramatic shooting and car crash in the city’s downtown area, and are asking for public assistance in solving the crime.

Charles Shillingford, 25, was shot in the chest in the area of Yonge and Charles streets just after 2 a.m. Saturday, and then crashed a vehicle into a building near Yonge and College streets, police said.

He was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after.

Homicide detectives are interviewing witnesses and reviewing security camera footage from the area.
