Hydro-Quebec awards utility pole, transmission line contracts to CVTech Group

DRUMMONDVILLE, Que. – CVTech Group Inc. (TSX:CVT) has won $39-million worth of contracts, mainly related to installing utility poles and building electricity transmissions in the province of Quebec.

Hydro-Quebec accounts for most of the contracts announced Wednesday by CVTech, based in Drummondville, Que.

It has hired CVTech’s subsidiary Thirau Ltd. to install poles and anchors for electrical distribution lines in the provincial utility’s Richelieu territory. That two-year contract is worth nearly $21 million, with work beginning this month.

CVTech says about 50 employees will be assigned to this project.

In addition, Hydro-Quebec has awarded three other contracts worth a total of $12.3 million for the construction of electricity transmission lines and Bell Canada (TSX:BCE) has awarded Thirau a $5.6-million contract to install poles in the Montreal South Shore area and Sherbrooke region.
