Police said they believe a large party took place at the home on Saturday night and that Rider was at the party. Cachene was beaten to death early Sunday morning after the party had ended.

Rider had been wanted on a province-wide warrant for assault as well as a Canada-wide warrant for breaching a conditional sentencing order.

The RCMP came upon Rider in Maskwacis (formerly known as Hobbema) during an unrelated investigation. He will be transferred to Calgary Friday.
