WINNIPEG – Defensive lineman Jake Thomas will be sticking around the city a little longer.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers extended the Canadian’s contract on Thursday. Thomas is currently playing in his fourth season with the CFL club. Details of the deal were not released.
Thomas has racked up 39 tackles, three special teams tackles, six sacks and a fumble recovery in 64 games – 19 of which he started. Thomas was drafted by the Bombers in the fourth round, 29th overall, during the 2012 CFL draft.

“Jake has been a solid contributor to this organization, both on and off the field, since he was first drafted,” said Bombers General Manager Kyle Walters. “He is a versatile player who is willing to do whatever is needed to be successful. Jake’s a team first, selfless individual and a great asset to this franchise.”
THIRD DOWN: The Bombers have added quarterback Bryan Bennett to their practice roster. The import attended training camp this year with the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts.
