The government of Canada has posted a notice advising consumers of a recall issued by the DeLorean Motor Company on its DMC-12 model.

The recall, conveniently flagged on Back to the Future Day, affects the specific DeLorean model seen in the iconic trilogy of films.

“On a certain DMC-12 car converted into a time machine, a defect in the flux capacitor could lead to inability to travel through time while travelling at 88 miles per hour (141.6 km/h) and may increase energy consumption beyond 1.21 gigawatts,” the government notice warns.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

The notice adds that “Doc Brown will effect repairs.”
