“There’s a lot of family commitments and things we miss out on just because of our shift work,” said Regina Police Service Deputy Chief Dean Rae prior to receiving his award. “So an award like this shows me, or I feel that this is in recognition of all those sacrifices that we’re given up over the years.”

“It gives them a sense of satisfaction. Not just that, but a thank you,” said honouree and Qu’Appelle and District Fire Chief Ron Heisler. “It lets you know what you’re doing is great for the province and all of Canada.”
