3.95% property tax hike proposed for Saskatoon homeowners
Saskatoon city administration presented the 2016 preliminary budget to city council with a proposed 3.95 per cent property tax hike. Administration said it will help pay for some of the biggest increases in expenditures, including road maintenance and policing.
If approved, a homeowner would pay an additional $5.40 per month on a property with an assessed value of $325,000.

Shots fired at Sask. Mounties during assault investigation

Mounties in northern Saskatchewan shot a man after shots were allegedly fired at an RCMP vehicle during an assault investigation Saturday on the Red Earth First Nation. The man was taken to a Saskatoon hospital for treatment.
The RCMP have called in the Saskatoon Police Service to conduct an external investigation.
Sask. introduces new conflict-of-interest rules for municipalities
The Saskatchewan government is proposing amendments it says will improve conflict-of-interest rules for municipal governments. The amendments follow an inquiry report into a proposed development in the Rural Municipality of Sherwood southeast of Regina.

Police recover 7 snowblowers stolen from a Saskatoon business
Saskatoon police are making some headway in a break and enter. Police say they have recovered seven of the 30 new Ariens and Torro snowblowers that were stolen during the Thanksgiving long weekend and have identified persons of interest in the thefts.
Flu shot clinics open in Saskatoon
Free influenza immunization clinics started Monday in Saskatoon. The first clinic was held at Station 20 West, a prelude to the mass clinic running from Tuesday, Oct. 20 until Saturday, Oct. 24 at Prairieland Park.
This is the first year in Saskatchewan that pharmacists can give the flu shot. The flu mist will only be available through public clinics.
