2 runners in critical condition after collapsing at Toronto marathon

TORONTO – A runner is in life-threatening condition after collapsing at the finish line in Sunday’s Scotiabank Toronto Marathon.

A 46-year-old man reportedly collapsed at the finish line and was showing no  vital signs.

Paramedics were able to revive the man’s pulse and he was transported to hospital.

A second runner, reportedly in his 20s, collapsed in the area of Bay Street and Albert Street. Paramedics revived him with a defibrillator and he was transported to hospital in non-life-threatening condition.

A 27-year-old man collapsed and died just before the finish line during the 2011 race.
