MONTREAL – Teachers at several English school boards in Montreal, Laval and the South Shore have announced their strike dates as part of pressure tactics over contract negotiations with the government.

The first strike is scheduled for Oct. 29 and will affect the English Montreal, Lester B. Pearson and Sir Wilfrid Laurier school boards.
If negotiations persist, teachers will continue strike action on:
Monday, Nov. 16
Tuesday, Nov. 17

Wednesday, Dec. 2
Thursday, Dec. 3
Daycares at the EMSB will be closed.
Teachers at Riverside School Board in the South Shore have planned walk-outs on:
Wednesday, Oct. 28
Thursday, Nov. 12
Friday, Nov. 13
Tuesday, Dec. 1
Wednesday, Dec. 2
Thursday, Dec. 3
Schools will be closed to students on those days.
Riverside daycare services will not be available as educators are also members of the support staff union.
Teachers had insisted the government’s demands go too far.

These include increased student-teacher ratios, reduced programs for special-needs children and the implementation of a 40-hour work week.
