Impact midfielder Romero out with torn ACL in right knee

MONTREAL – Impact midfielder Andres Romero will miss the rest of the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, the MLS club announced Wednesday.

The 25-year-old is expected to be out from six to nine months.

Romero suffered the injury 15 minutes into Montreal 1-0 victory at Colorado on Saturday.

The Argentine was Montreal’s player of the year in 2014.

He had four goals and four assists in 27 games this season.

The Impact have two regular season games remaining, including one Saturday at New England where they have a chance to clinch a playoff spot.
