CALGARY – Police have identified Christopher Stephen Tooley as the man found dead in a Beltline alley on Sunday.
Emergency crews were called to the 700 block of 12 Avenue S.W. at around 11:15 p.m. on Oct. 11 for reports of a disturbance. When they arrived, paramedics found one man dead at the scene.
On Friday, police confirmed Tooley, 33, was the victim.
Investigators said Tuesday they believed the victim had been involved in an altercation after meeting with someone. He was robbed of his bag by an offender who left on foot.
“There is nothing to indicate this was a random attack,” said Calgary Police Staff Sgt. Colin. “It is believed drugs may have played a role.”
Police said they were searching for one male suspect in connection to the death, but haven’t yet released a suspect description.
The medical examiner has not yet declared the death a homicide, and officials aren’t releasing Tooley’s cause of death.
Anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident is asked to contact police or call Crime Stoppers.
