Man armed with bear mace Tasered by Saskatoon police officer

A man was Tasered on Thanksgiving after a Saskatoon police responded to a break and enter in progress in the Meadowgreen neighbourhood. File / Global News

SASKATOON – A 29-year-old man was Tasered Monday after Saskatoon police received a report of a residence being broken into. The call came in shortly after 3 p.m. CT.

Officers quickly responded to the Meadowgreen neighbourhood and found the man inside the residence.

The suspect refused to come out and deployed bear mace at officers standing outside.

A police member used a Taser, also known as a conducted energy weapon (CEW), and the suspect was taken into custody.

Police say there were no injuries as a result of the CEW deployment, but the man was taken to hospital by MD Ambulance.

The suspect is facing numerous charges.
