Lethbridge teacher confirmed as man charged with indecent act

LETHBRIDGE- Lethbridge Public School District 51 has confirmed a teacher from working for Lethbridge Alternative Schools and Programs has been charged in connection to an incident Friday night. Three young women between the ages of 16 and 19 years old reported seeing a man masturbating outside a home in the 200-block of Columbia Boulevard West.

Lethbridge Regional Police have charged 54-year-old Karl Wilfried Miller with committing an indecent act and trespassing at night.

Thursday the District released a statement saying:
“Lethbridge School District No. 51 wishes to clarify the status of one of its teachers, currently under investigation on criminal charges.

Karl Wilfred Miller, is in fact listed online as a staff member under Victoria Park School, but works with the Developing Lifelong Assets program, one of the Lethbridge Alternative Schools programs housed at different schools throughout the District. One of these Developing Lifelong Assets programs is based out of Park Meadows School, due to availability of space.

Miller is a staff member of Lethbridge Alternative Schools and Programs, and is not a staff member at Park Meadows School.

Developing Lifelong Assets is a program which provides short-term intervention for students ages 12-17, to assist with meeting their academic and psycho-social needs. The teacher working in conjunction with the Developing Lifelong Assets program, does not have any direct contact with the students at Park Meadows, which houses students from Kindergarten to Grade 5.”

Miller is due back in court November 5.
