A lockdown is currently in place at a unit in the Saskatchewan Penitentiary near Prince Albert. It was put into place on Thursday afternoon.
According to a release from Correctional Service Canada, the medium security unit was locked down so guards could carry out “an exceptional search.”
Officials said they are committed to preventing the entry of contraband into the institution and are working in partnership with police to take action against those who attempt to bring in contraband.
