Quebec teachers demonstrate in downtown Montreal

MONTREAL – Thousands of teachers gathered for a big protest at Victoria Square as part of pressure tactics over contract negotiations.

Over 34,000 teachers in 10 French school boards are on strike Wednesday.

In Montreal, all services are cancelled including classes, daycares, food services and buses.

There are six strike days planned for English school board teachers starting after the federal election on Oct. 19.
