Saskatoon Blades scoring woes behind them?

SASKATOON – The Saskatoon Blades goal scoring woes could be behind them. The team finished the past two seasons in the bottom four of league scoring.

This year might be a different story as the Blades appear to have an influx of firepower. Through the first two games of the season, the Blades have scored 12 goals.

The top line of Ryan Graham, Cameron Hebig and Connor Gay is a major reason for the offensive outburst, scoring half the team’s goals so far this season.

Gay attributes the success so far to his linemates.

“Ryan and Cameron are two pretty great hockey players, they’re pretty easy to play with,” said Gay.

“I’m pretty excited we clicked and hopefully we can keep doing that through the season.”

Blades general manager and head coach Bob Woods said that although it’s unrealistic for the top line to keep up the pace all season, they are doing what was expected of them.

“They’re guys we’re going to lean on in a lot of situations,” said Woods.

“They’re going to have to produce and they’ve done that so far.”

Through the first two games of the 2015-16 season, the Blades have already picked up three points. Last season, it took until mid-October to break the three-point barrier.

The Blades look to build on that when they kick off a four-game homestand Friday night against the Medicine Hat Tigers.
