Woman fatally stabbed in north Edmonton, husband charged
EDMONTON — A 38-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of his wife.
Police said Sunday that Jason Andrew Otway was also charged with possession of an offensive weapon in Jennifer Otway’s death.
Police were called to a home in the area of 119 Avenue and 56 Street just after 11 p.m. Friday.
Officers found a 42-year-old woman suffering from stab wounds. She was rushed to hospital where she died of her injuries.
Police have confirmed there were two young children in the home, but they were unharmed and are now being cared for.
“Her husband was arrested,” EPS spokesperson Scott Pattison said. “It was a domestic dispute in the family home.”
Pattison said police did not have any history at the home.
“It’s just a very sad and tragic event.”
Jason Otway is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday morning.
