Winnipeg – The 44-year-old man who died after an officer involved shooting will be laid to rest on Monday.
Haki Sefa was killed Sunday night after the van he was driving was stopped by police northeast of Winnipeg near the intersection of Highway 59 and Kirkness Road around 10:30.

“Haki was a proud man with a good heart and was a very loving person,” reads a portion of his obituary.
It was posted on the Cropo Funeral Chapel’s website.
“Haki was very close with his family and loved to spend time with them,” it goes on to read. “He loved fishing, boating, canoeing, playing guitar, and playing sports.”
A funeral service will be held on Monday, Sept. 28 at 1 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel at 1442 Main St.
According to the Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU), an “interaction” between officers and Sefa ended in police discharging their weapons and the man dying. The IIU hasn’t said yet whether officers shot and killed Sefa.
The IIU is looking for witnesses to the incident.

The IIU investigates all serious incidents involving police officers in Manitoba. Since it was formed earlier this year, this is the first incident the group has taken on.
