Two people killed after head-on collision near Portage la Prairie

A 50-year-old man and 40-year-old woman from Sandy Bay First Nation both died in a crash near Portage la Prairie Wednesday afternoon.

Officers from Portage la Prairie RCMP were called to a collision involving a southbound car and a northbound pick-up truck near the intersection of 68 Road North and Road 39 West in Portage la Prairie.

When officers arrived on scene the driver of the vehicle and the female passenger were pronounced deceased.

The driver of the truck, a 17-year-old male from Portage la Prairie, was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The 17-year-old female passenger was uninjured.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this collision.
