UPDATE: SPCA raising funds to treat pitbull dragged by a minivan in Saskatoon

SASKATOON – It’s a case of animal cruelty that has Saskatoon police looking for information. Authorities said a pitbull was dragged by a minivan near Lenore Drive and Silverwood Road last Sunday evening.

Witnesses said they were attempting to stop the vehicle when the leash finally broke, setting the dog free.

The large, beige male pitbull, who is between the ages of three and five, was badly injured. His condition has improved, but he is expected to have a long recovery.

The Saskatoon SPCA is paying for the dog’s care, which they said will cost between $3,000 and $5,000.

The minivan is described as dark in colour with a leash still attached to a rear trailer hitch. A man and a woman were reported to be in the vehicle.
