WINNIPEG – A 59-year-old woman is now facing life behind bars with no chance of parole for at least 25 years after being convicted of first-degree murder.
Rita Cushnie was found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder in the death of a former professional wrestler known as “the Croatian Giant.”
Ivan Radocaj, 43, was killed in 2007.

Cushnie testified in her own defence at trial and claimed she didn’t know about the plan to attack Radocaj, however, the Queen’s Bench Justice didn’t buy it.
Cushnie’s son Donald Richard and three others have already been convicted for their roles in the murder. Cushnie herself was convicted for her part in the killing but had the verdict overturned by the Manitoba Court of Appeal in 2013.
Richard is serving a life sentence with no chance of parole for 25 years at Stony Mountain Institution. The other three involved in the death, including the victim’s wife Melody Sanford, have also all been convicted. They, too, are serving life.
