Oddie says staff performed CPR until paramedics arrived but the inmate couldn’t be resuscitated.

Hagen was serving a sentence of seven years, four months and 15 days for possession of a weapon, assaulting a peace officer and assault causing bodily harm.

Police and the coroner have been notified and Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances of his death.

The medium security unit was placed in lockdown while staff conduct a search to ensure the facility was safe and secure.
