TORONTO – During Wednesday night’s GOP debate, U.S. Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush admitted to having smoked pot while in high school.
The acknowledgement came amid a debate over legalizing marijuana.
Bush said his mother, former first lady Barbara Bush, would not be happy to hear him admit that he smoked pot on live television.
“So, 40 years ago I smoked marijuana and I admit it,” he said. “I’m sure other people might have done it and may not want to say it in front of 25 million people.
“My mom’s not happy I just did,” Bush added.
A member of Bush’s campaign team sent an apology out on Twitter.
And of course, because of the Internet, social media users went all reefer madness creating amusing memes and creative hashtags around Bush’s pot admission.
