CHESTERMERE, Alta. – Alberta’s newest city is hoping to develop a thriving business park on a piece of property just outside of Calgary.
The City of Chestermere announced on Thursday it had purchased 101 acres of land located minutes from the TransCanada Highway, Calgary International Airport, and CN Logistics Park.
City officials said they are seeking to attract light industrial and commercial enterprises to expand and diversify the city’s non-residential sectors.
“We have already been experiencing significant interest from major enterprises looking to find a new location,” said Chestermere’s Economic Development Manager Jean-Marc Lacasse in a news release.

“With the ability to develop this land ourselves, we will now be able to offer space for companies looking to find a great home on Calgary’s eastern border.”
“Not only is life better at the lake, but we believe business will be better too.”
The city is seeking to begin selling parcels in the next one to two years, but officials said they are eager to speak with interested investors now.
Chestermere is located about 24 km east of Calgary.
