East Preston, N.S. — A family of five is temporarily homeless following a fire this weekend.
The blaze broke out around 3 a.m. Saturday at a home on Brooks Drive in East Preston, about 10 kilometres east of Dartmouth.
The couple, who own the home, were just married a few weeks ago and were away with their three children when the fire started.
The home has been completely gutted. The Canadian Red Cross is helping the family with emergency purchases of food and clothing. All five are currently staying with relatives for the time being.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The home owners have told Global News they believe the fire was electrical.
