WATCH ABOVE: Police have a arrested a suspect in connection with an early morning altercation in the Montérégie that sent a 22-year-old woman to hospital with serious injuries.
MONTREAL – A 22-year-old woman is in hospital with serious injuries after she was allegedly beaten by her boyfriend early Saturday morning in Contrecoeur, in the Montérégie.
Richelieu St-Laurent police spokesperson Yanic Parent told Global news that a neighbour alerted police after seeing the man strike the woman repeatedly.
The attack happened shortly after 6:30 a.m. on Saturday in the parking lot of an apartment building on Vignieu Street.
Police responded to the call and were able to subdue and arrest the suspect.
The 28-year-old man is facing charges of assault causing bodily harm.
The woman remains in hospital in stable but serious condition.
