NEAR OLIVER — The Testalinden Creek wildfire near Oliver that sparked on August 14 is now 80 per cent contained.
Firefighters are conducting controlled burns this afternoon between Toga and Reed Creeks causing more smoke and visible open flames in the area.
An Evacuation Alert remains in effect for residents in the Fairview Road area and west of Oliver.
WATCH: A fire behaviour analyst says factors like drought-stricken dead trees are helping wildfires become more dangerous and harder to control, making blazes burn hotter and move quicker. Carter Evans reports.
A restriction order remains in place for the active fire zone.
The public is asked to steer clear of this area as crews continue to fight the blaze.
