Police warn of ‘untreated child sexual offender’ living in Edmonton

EDMONTON – The police issued a public warning Tuesday following the release of a 24-year-old child sexual offender.

Cyle Larsen was released from the Calgary Correctional Centre on Aug. 9 after completing a 12-month sentence for breach of recognizance in relation to previous sexual interference charges.

He is living in the Edmonton area and will be closely monitored by the Edmonton Police Service Behavioural Assessment Unit.

Police say Larsen is considered to be “an untreated child sexual offender who poses a risk of significant harm to the community.”

The 24-year-old is 5’6” and 119 lbs with blue eyes and blonde hair.

Edmonton police issued the public warning after carefully weighing all related issues, including privacy concerns, and coming to the conclusion that it is in the public interest to let members of the community know about Larsen’s release.

“Releasing this information is not intended to encourage people to engage in any sort of vigilante action,” the police release added.
