CALGARY – Could ride-share company Uber be preparing for a Calgary launch?
It’s a question that many are pondering after three Calgary-based job postings for Uber Technologies appeared on the company’s website.
They appear to be looking to hire a Marketing Manager, Senior Marketing Manager and Operations & Logistics Manager.
The company currently operates in Edmonton but not in Calgary.

In a statement sent to Global News, Uber said they don’t have any “specific plans to launch in Calgary at the moment,” but the postings suggest they are keen to expand at some point.
“We won’t stop until all of Alberta is riding Uber,” reads the posting for Marketing Manager. It goes on to indicate the company wants someone who will take Uber “to new heights in Alberta.”
Meanwhile, the posting for Senior Marketing Manager mentions the city specifically, saying the successful candidate will be “responsible for recruiting, training, and mentoring a team of marketing managers to grow the Calgary market.”

In 2013, the company offered Calgarians a trial of their services for a $5 donation to the Calgary Foundation. It was Calgary businessman and entrepreneur Brett Wilson who was given the honour of taking the city’s inaugural Uber trip.
Uber does have a verified Twitter account for the Calgary market which was established in October 2012.
