Police are investigating a suspicious fire in Coquitlam that caused the homeowner to climb from a window to escape the flames.
Coquitlam asst. fire chief Stu Aspinall said the call came in describing fire at both the front and back doors of the house at about 2:30 a.m. After calling 911, the owner managed to crawl through a side window with his dog to escape the burning home.
Fire crews have put out the flames although the home, which is located on Robinson Street near Como Lake, is badly damaged.
Witnesses said the flames were at least 10 feet high when the crews arrived.
Fire and RCMP are investigating the fire, which is suspicious in nature but say it is too soon to determine the cause.
