EDMONTON — The Edmonton International Fringe Festival has wrapped up for another year and organizers are calling this year’s festival another huge success.
“We broke our ticket record again,” said Jill Roszell, executive director of Fringe Theatre Adventures. “We had a great festival this year. It was a lot of fun and we had a lot of people down here.”

More than 121,000 tickets were sold over the course of the 11-day festival, with over $1 million going back to the artists. Ticket sales were up this year over last, when 118,280 tickets were sold, despite offering fewer shows.
“The shows, I think, were even bumped up again in terms of the quality and the experience that we had,” Roszell said. “We know we’re doing a good job when we get the feedback from the patrons that’s like, ‘This is a great time. We want to come back next year.’
“The vibe truly was just fantastic on site this year. Everybody was chilled out, having a good time.”

Roszell said attendance at the outdoor sites was down a bit this year; cooler weather over previous years may have contributed to that.
Planning is already underway for next summer’s festival, which is expected to be bigger and better than ever as the Edmonton International Fringe Festival celebrates 35 years in the city.
