CALGARY – Police are investigating if a man taken into custody on Friday may be tied to three taxi cab crimes in Calgary.

Officers arrested the man in connection to a carjacking in the intersection of 23 Avenue S.E. and 46 Street S.E. that occurred just after 2:30 a.m. on Friday.

Investigators say the offender used a knife to threaten a cab driver and steal the vehicle. The taxi was later located a short distance away in the 2100 block of 52 Street S.E.

Police are working to determine if the same offender was responsible for two similar crimes reported in the same area last week.

On Aug. 13, officers were called to 22 Avenue and 59 Street N.E. just before 11 p.m. for reports that someone had tried to rob a taxi driver.
